Vincent Academy – Adventure Coast
Founded in 2003, Vincent House, the parent organization of Vincent Academy, was the outcome of a community, grassroots effort led by Diane and Elliott Steele. Their mission took shape in 2001, after and inspirational meeting with Public Defender, Bob Dillinger on the critical need for psychiatric rehabilitation services in Pinellas County. Together they garnered the support of NAMI, families and community leaders and formed a Board of Directors, created a not-for-profit organization hired a professional staff. Humble beginnings at a local strip mall and passion for excellence paved the way to national recognition and the acquisition of a beautiful, modern facility. It’s a dream come true.
Vincent Academy is a grass roots organization. All program and capital expenses are funded thanks the generosity of friends, families and charitable foundations, as well as county, state and federal agencies. Vincent Academy Members pay tuition on a sliding fee scale. All donations are greatly appreciated.
The mission of Vincent Academy is to assist, promote and celebrate individuals living with a mental illness, or other disability, in their effort to improve social and vocational skills and become employed in the community.
Discovery Tours offer community guests and family members the unique opportunity to visit Vincent House in Pinellas Park, see the workday and meet Members, staff and a representative of the the Board of Directors. Discovery Tours are held twice a month and last one hour.
